Talk on masculinity: Does having male friends make you gay?
Does having male friends make you gay? ???? Yes, we know, the title is a bit provocative… but trust me, it’s worth it! ???? Montaigne, a man whose exclusively heterosexual experiences are known, writes of his friend La Boétie: «If you ask me why I loved him, I feel that this cannot be expressed unless I answer: ‘Because it was him; because it was me’». Such a statement, from one man to another, might sound strange to the ears of those who are used to living in a society where the line between romantic love and friendship seems so clear and clear ???? So how do you distinguish male homosexual friendships from romantic relationships? ???? Paul Alia, from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, conducted a study based on interviews with young gay adults, focusing on two aspects: the effect of homosexuality on relationships with heterosexual individuals and the creation of emotional bonds between gay men, and how they are influenced by factors such as gender dynamics, masculinity, age and socio-economic status ???? The conference, organized in collaboration with @voicesinbalance, aims to delve deeper into the nature of these bonds, also in light of how they adapt to new perspectives and behaviors towards sexual and gender minorities ???? The talk will be held in English ???????? But then, let’s do a recap! We will see each other: ???? Friday 17 May ⏰ from 4.00pm ????room 15 Sociology
