The Repair Café Trento returns with a cycle of meetings dedicated to repair, reuse and sustainability. Open to those who want to repair an object, learn something new or simply be part of a community that works for a more sustainable future. Repair Café Trento saw over 120 repaired objects in 2024 thanks to the commitment of more than 20 volunteers. For 2025 the network of subjects involved expands further with new appointments, new skills and a strong spirit of community. All the meetings will be held on Saturday, in conjunction with the Gaudenti market, from 10 to 14 at the Harpolab courtyard in Piazza Garzetti. First appointment, Saturday 12 April. In 2023, Europe produced 235.4 million tons of urban waste, an impressive figure that reflects the urgent need to review our consumption models. Italy, among the countries with the highest separate collection rates in Europe, reached 65.2% in 2022, while in Trentino the percentage reached 82.8% (Reportambiente.provincia.tn). However, recycling is not the only solution: often it would be possible to avoid it if you could repair, reuse and give new life to objects, reducing the environmental impact and growing awareness in our community.

The idea of ​​reuse inspired in 2009 the first world repair Café worldwide and today, with over 2,500 repair café active in more than 40 countries, this initiative has become a point of reference for sustainability, sharing of skills and the creation of more responsible communities. In Trento, the Repair Café came to life in 2017 thanks to the commitment of the Carpe Diem Association and the Kaleidoscope Cooperative, and then see the network that today sees the Glow and CoderDolomiti associations and the Muse as the leader. “The repair café is not only a place where objects are repaired, but a meeting point between people of different ages and skills, an opportunity for socialization and mutual growth”, comments Gianluca Lopez, referent of the project for the Muse “The goal is to promote reuse and repair as a concrete alternative to excessive consumption and to the ‘USA’. Each repair is a small act of responsibility towards the environment”. In fact, the Repair Café Trento is not only a repairs laboratory, but a real community space where people can learn, exchange ideas, and get involved. Volunteers (s) collaborate together to give new life to everyday objects and the skills are not limited to technical repair, but are enriched with the value of sharing, solidarity and social inclusion. In addition to promoting the reduction of waste, it creates a social network of committed people and promotes the culture of sustainability. Many participants return several times, becoming volunteers in turn and thus creating a virtuous cycle of knowledge and mutual help.
