philosophy, art and nature (PAN) festival: Utopia

June 24 @ 8:00 am - June 25 @ 5:00 pm

Do art, philosophy and nature seem superfluous? The Pan Festival (philosophy, art and nature) aims to be a celebration of their vitality and creativity

The 2023 edition of the Pan Festival, organized by Seesaw Project, takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June; this year the protagonists will be called to discuss the theme of utopia.

Saturday 24 June

● At 10 am in the Rocca di Riva “Pan Festival Unplugged!”, outdoor and analogue workshop on the communication of the live show curated by Simone Pacini, in collaboration with Collettivo Clochart. To register for the workshop, booking is required via the company website,, or directly at the event location. In the afternoon the Festival will move to Piazza Tre Novembre.

● At 3.30pm “Caos caso cosa”, a contemporary dance performance and live set by Valentina Pennacchio and Polipi alla Gogna, a Trentino musical project born during the lockdown.

● At 4.30 pm “Everyone fights a war but the biggest one is with themselves”, a work by the very young performer E. P. Bellum. At the same time, Francesca Tricarico, president of the “I lari” association of Arco, and Francesca Sarti, artist and ceramist, will present “Atipica-Mente”, a project that undertakes to tell the story of neuro-atypicalities without, however, that melodramatic accent that places them in an erroneous and deplorable situation of inferiority to a so-called normality.

● At 5.15pm Simone Pacini will present his book “Il teatro sulla Francigena”, ten years after the project of the same name.

● The first part of the day ends with “Senza titolo, senza plot”, talk and performance by the dancer, choreographer and autistic activist Red Fryk Hey together with Jelix, at 6.15pm.

● At 8.30 pm the festival moves to the courtyard of the Rocca with “Self-portrait in three acts”, a lecture performance on the theme of stigmatized identity and the gaze by Diana Anselmo, deaf_Italian_ artist, and member of the Cultural Council of the British Council Italy.

● At 9.45pm “Like a fish out of water” will follow, a theater and dance performance by Marta Cellamare. The Chierici-Cicolella company will conclude the evening with “Show Time”, the theatrical epilogue of the TV series of the same name.

Sunday 25 June

● The second day of the festival opens again with the “Pan Festival Unplugged!” workshop by Simone Pacini, in Rocca.

● From 3.30 pm we move to the Rocca park, where the Ecumene Project collective will present the participatory installation “Miridea”.

● At 4.15pm the Fucina Machiavelli in Verona will stage “Baby Mozart. K1, K2 and K3… Stella!”, theater and music show for children and families.

● “Eve 3.0” will follow at 5pm, a contemporary dance and virtual reality show by the Voix company from Paris, in collaboration with Seesaw Project. You can participate in the performance both as passive spectators and as more active spectators, wearing VR helmets and interacting with a virtual landscape.

● At the same time as the Rocca, the Clochart Collective will hold the “Hidden Fragility” movement workshop.

● At 6.45pm the Compagnia delle Nuvole will present the theater show “Magnetic Fields”.

● The final evening of the festival will host Sunday Pills, an event that combines information, philosophy, culture and conviviality. As tradition dictates, we begin with an informal symposium, which will be curated by Veronica Boniotti and Giuseppe Claudio Insalaco, on the theme of utopia, and then move on to the musical part. At 10.15pm the Electric Circus concert.

● The second edition of the Pan Festival will close with a DJ set by Remo’o, from Smarmellata Project.
