Performance: Valerie Tameu – Time and Again

A photo album becomes the bridge between the rigor of representation and the nuanced, surreal dimension of dreams and desires, where the sound of a lullaby echoes. Fragments of oral history passed down through the artist’s family of origin emerge like echoes of memories. Through autobiographical complexity and the disorganization of forms, the artist aims to challenge the frequent simplification of Afro-descendant bodies and instead celebrate their fluidity.

Valerie Tameu is an author and performer. She graduated in dance studies from the Faculty of Cinema, Performing Arts, Music, and Media in Turin, and has trained with various teachers from the Italian and international scene. Her research focuses on the relationship between performance and identity, exploring the distinction between memory and imagination. In her artistic practice, she creatively merges bodies, ideas, theories, and hallucinations.
